Final Briefing Email
We’re almost there, and we can’t wait to welcome you to Africa’s Oldest Game Reserve! Before the weekend, there are some vital pieces of information we need you to please take note of.
- TRAVEL & ARRIVAL:
Please know that Friday is always busy on the N2 and the R618. So just apply your best “woosa” mode when you head up and don’t rush it please.
It is recommended that you allow for 3hr travel time from Durban to the Nyalazi gate. This is important when planning your trip and ensuring that you are on site for our compulsory race briefing which takes place on Friday at 19h00. On arrival, please sign in and process your park entry at the Nyalazi Gate. Please be patient with this process at the gate, the sign in process is quite extensive now due to anti-poaching regulations. Once you have entered, follow the signs to the Centenary Centre, and you will pick up the race village signs. The Nyalazi Gate will also operate special gate times for the event as follows:
- Friday: 06h00 – 22h00
- Saturday: 05h00 – 22h00
- Sunday: 05h00 – 18h00
Travel within the reserve will be allowed until 22h00 each night for you to get back to your accommodation.
- CATERING:
All meals will be served at the race village, which is located next to the Centenary Centre. A fully stoked bar will also be available. Supporters’ packages have been available for those who want and are now closed for purchasing. Please note that if you do not have an entry, or a supporter’s package, the only food for purchase on site will be at the Centenary Centre take away facility.

The sundowner’s session is a real special part of the event and provides snacks, gin, wine and beers to all entrants and supporters, as we watch the sun go down over the Wilderness area. In the past we have had a history chat, but after feedback from entrants, we have decided to take this formal talk out for 2023.
