This is something special…..the opportunity to run in Africa’s oldest game reserve, iMfolozi. For the first time ever, a trail run will be held in a Big 5 Game Reserve, and you have the chance to be a part of what is set to be one of the best combinations of trail running, bushveld and entertainment.
ETHOS:
The Ethos of this event is to gather a group of like-minded trail enthusiasts in order to experience Africa’s Oldest Game Reserve on foot, in an event that is totally unique. It is not about the run and how fast you can do it, but about spending a weekend in a reserve that has stood the test of time, that is the centre of the world’s Southern White Rhino gene pool. The event is focused on raising much needed funds for the iMfolozi Game Reserve.
SAFETY:
Safety is our priority, and we have a full safety and medical setup in place. Being in a game reserve, means there are obvious risks which you adopt as an entrant, but we will have a large number of armed rangers, EKZNW staff & Honorary Officers strategically located on the route for your safety. A similar safety plan is adopted during the MTB event that has taken place in the reserve for over 10 years. Each entrant will be required to sign a full indemnity on entry.
FUN RAISING:
As part of your entry process, you will be required to enter in a predicted time that you will take to complete the two days (in minutes). This time is not to see how fast you can run, but will be used for you to get pledges from family, supporters, friends and company’s in order to help raise additional funds for the reserve. Pledges will be based on a monetary value and full details of this process will be sent closer to the time. Our aim is to raise R100 000 in pledges through our participants and their networks, and we will have a number of prizes up for grabs for those who manage to raise the most for the Reserve. Each entrant is kindly requested to raise a minimum of R500 each through friends, businesses and networks to donate to the Reserve.
ENTRY FEE & What it includes:
The event costs R3205pp* (excludes bank charge of 3.8%) and you need to enter as a pair (safety in numbers of course). This entry fee includes:
